Let’s talk about basic RV leveling blocks and stabilizing your RV for a safe and enjoyable RV experience. There are a number of things that many people get wrong when it comes to the basics of leveling their RV trailer. We’re going to start with the most common misunderstanding and then discuss the many options available.

RV Factory and Aftermarket Stabilizers

RV factory stabilizers are designed to keep your RV in a stable position, not to level it. Though they are designed to help minimize the effects of uneven terrain, they are not strong enough to lift the entire weight of the RV off the ground.

You will likely need a more robust leveling system to lift or shift the RV. RV factory stabilizers are better suited for smaller RVs or trailers since the weight of larger RVs can put excessive stress on the stabilizers and damage them. They are also useful for stabilizing your RV when parked and preventing excessive bouncing or swaying.

If you're looking for a great way to stabilize your RV, then you need to check out RVGUARD's RV Stack Jacks! These jacks are made of cast aluminum and are anti-rust and corrosion resistant. They come in a pack of four and can each support up to 6000lbs. They can be adjusted from 11″ to 17″ in height. With square base design, each jack can support a lot of weight. With these jacks, you'll never have to worry about your RV moving or bouncing again!

There are two types of RV stabilizers – manual and electric. Manual RV stabilizers are operated by cranking a handle, which in turn extends the stabilizer legs. Electric RV stabilizers are operated by a switch, and the legs extend automatically. Both types of RV stabilizers are available in either single or dual leg versions. Dual leg versions are more stable and are recommended for larger RV trailers.

There are a variety of RV aftermarket stabilizers on the market, but not all are created equal. Some will install directly to your frame while others are a simpler screw jack style that is placed on each corner of the RVs frame. When shopping for RV stabilizers, be sure to look for those that are:

– Made from quality materials

– Easy to use

– Sturdy and stable

– Affordable

If you're an RV owner, you know how important it is to keep your vehicle level. But sometimes the job requires more than just regular blocks. That's why investing in a drive over type RV wheel leveling block system can be a great advantage. If you own a tandem axle RV this system allows you to raise one wheel to change the second tire, helping ensure your RV stays level and safe. The benefits of such a system are numerous, including:

  1. Safety: This system helps to keep your RV level, so you can be sure that it’s safe to drive.
  2. Convenience: With a tandem axle RV you have the option to raise one wheel, you don’t have to worry about jacking up the entire RV when you need to change a tire.
  3. Flexibility: This system enables you to make quick adjustments to level your RV when necessary.
  4. Durability: The drive over type RV wheel leveling block system is designed from heavy molded plastics designed to hold the weight of your RV, so you know it’s built to last.

Whether you’re a full-time RV’er, or just a weekend warrior, investing in a drive over type RV wheel leveling block system can help keep your vehicle safe and level.

Wheel Chocks: The Difference Between Rubber Blocks and X-Shaped RV Stabilizer Chocks

When it comes to RV stabilization, rubber RV wheel chocks and X-Shaped RV Stabilizer Wheel Chocks are two popular options. Both of these products offer a safe and secure way to keep your vehicle in place, but they function differently and have different features.

Lock the Maxchock x chocks wheel stabilizer between tandem tires on your camper or RV to keep your travel trailers stable, comfortable and secure. You never have to worry about the space between tires – our RV wheel chock stabilizer extend to fit wheel distances from 3.5” to 11.5” on travel trailers, Class A motorhome, fifth wheel trailers, toy haulers, and more.
Maxchock X Shaped RV Stabilizer Wheel Chock Install

The most obvious difference between the two is their shape – rubber RV wheel chocks are usually small, rectangular blocks that are designed to fit snugly underneath your RV’s wheels. These chocks help prevent your vehicle from rolling, but they don’t help to stabilize it. On the other hand, X-Shaped RV Stabilizer Wheel Chocks are a more advanced product that combines an X-shaped frame with a rubber block. This design provides four-way stabilization and ensures that your vehicle won’t move in any direction.

Maxchock X-Shaped RV Stabilizer Wheel Chock

$99.77
$129.99

Lock the Maxchock x chocks wheel stabilizer between tandem tires on your camper or RV to keep your travel trailers stable, comfortable and secure. You never have to worry about the space between tires – our RV wheel chock stabilizer extend to fit wheel distances from 3.5” to 11.5” on travel trailers, Class A motorhome, fifth wheel trailers, toy haulers, and more.

In addition to their shape and function, the materials used for each product are also different. Rubber RV wheel chocks are typically made from a durable, non-slip rubber material and are designed to be lightweight and easy to store. X-Shaped RV Stabilizer Wheel Chocks, on the other hand, are usually made from a heavy-duty steel that is strong enough to withstand travel and outdoor weather conditions.

Ultimately, it comes down to your own needs and preferences. Rubber RV wheel chocks are great for occasional use, or for when you need to quickly stabilize your vehicle. X-Shaped RV Stabilizer Wheel Chocks, however, are a more robust option that provides extra stability and security.

DIY Wood RV Leveling Blocks Are Easy to Make and Easy to Use.

Do-it-yourself RV owners can save money and have a reliable wheel leveling system with homemade RV wheel leveling blocks made from solid lumber boards or LVL wood blocking. With a simple rope handle, these blocks provide an inexpensive way to level and support your RV when parked at your favorite campsite.

RV owners can purchase pre-manufactured blocks, but making your own is an economical option. All you need is a block of untreated wood that is wide enough and long enough to support your RV’s weight and level it to the ground. If the ground is relatively level, you can use 2×8's or 2×10's, with the flat side facing down, to create a 1-1/2” tall stable platform. If the ground is uneven, you can stack these blocks or maybe you prefer to use scraps of LVL wood blocking which is 1-3/4” thick to create taller blocks with varying heights to achieve the desired level. I created a set of LVL blocks by cutting 3 sections 1-24” long 1-18” long and 1-12” long and beveled the front edge of each. This way I could stack a set up to 5-1/4” tall when needed and simply back onto the stack.

Wood RV Drive On Leveling Blocks

Once cut and shaped, the blocks can be sanded and finished with a waterproof sealant to protect the wood from the elements. A simple rope handle should then be installed on the narrow side of each block to make them easy to move around and store.

With just a few materials and a bit of time, you can create your own RV wheel leveling blocks at a fraction of the cost of a pre-manufactured set. Plus, the satisfaction of making it yourself can provide you with a sense of accomplishment every time you utilize them. So, for your next outdoor camping adventure, try making your own RV wheel leveling blocks for a reliable, easy-to-use system.
